Made with peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs, butter, coconut, powdered sugar, and semi sweet chocolate. A great holiday gift to give to a friend! I honestly wish you could just reach through your phone (or laptop screen) and grab one of these amazing treats – OMG! These little guys are absolutely delicious, but I am gonna level with you for a minute here: These take a bit of time and patience to make! I don’t regularly coat things in melted chocolate, so those of you that make homemade candies in similar ways probably have the upper hand on me. That being said, they are 1000% worth it! I wouldn’t share the tutorial and the recipe with you if I didn’t think it was worth the work for these amazing treats. 😉 What’s in this recipe? You’ll need some usual baking ingredients for this one: butter, creamy peanut butter, coconut, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar and semi sweet chocolate chips. Can I omit the coconut? I’m not a fan! It’s ok, neither am I! 😆 Don’t omit it though because it helps bind the candy together into balls. Honestly, I didn’t mind the coconut in this recipe at all so I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, as I was, that you actually do like it in these candies! Can I grind up whole graham crackers instead of buying the crumbs? Sure! Just process them very finely and use the same amount as listed in this recipe. How to make this recipe: In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened butter and the creamy peanut butter with a hand mixer until smooth. Mix in the graham cracker crumbs and coconut. Gradually add in powdered sugar and beat well after each addition. (If you add it all in at one time, it will kick up and fly all over you and your kitchen – ask me how I know 😆) Using a tablespoon scoop, roll balls of the candy and place them on a cookie sheet. Refrigerate overnight. Melt the semi sweet chocolate chips according to the package directions. Dip chilled bon bons into the melted chocolate, shake off excess chocolate, and place them back onto a cookie sheet. This is the part of the recipe that can be a pain! Just shake off the excess chocolate as best you can – these are going to look homemade because they are homemade! If you’d like, sprinkle a bit of holiday colored sprinkles on top of the bon bons as they’re resting to decorate any extra drizzle or swirl of chocolate. Chill until chocolate is hardened, then transfer to a plastic container. Store these in the fridge until you’re ready to serve! What kind of chocolate do I use? I just buy the typical semi sweet chocolate chips that you use to make cookies. Most bags will have microwave melting directions on the back. How do I melt the chocolate chips? This might vary depending on the brand and variety you buy. But try melting the chips at 30 second intervals stirring really well in between each time period. Can I use a sugar substitute in this recipe? I would think a sugar substitute that works for powdered sugar would also work here. Freezer directions: Freeze these bon bons in a lidded container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and keep them stored in the refrigerator also. Can these be left out at room temperature for a party? Yes! Just be aware that if it’s near the oven or any other warm place the chocolate might melt a bit. These little guys are great for parties! How many bon bons does this recipe make? Haha A LOT! This most recent batch I was able to make 45-50 bon bons. This is dependent on how large you scoop them, though! Recipe pro tips: Have some fun Christmas colored sprinkles on hand to cover any messy chocolate drips on the bon bons Return the chocolate to the microwave at 15 second intervals if it starts to cool and thicken Likewise, return the chilled bon bons back into the refrigerator for 15 minutes if they get too warm to handle More recipes you’ll love: Easy Chocolate Chip Muffins Christmas Monster Cookies Crockpot Triple Hot Chocolate Mint Oreo Pudding Pie Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies If you liked this recipe, leave a rating and a comment below this post!
