Meet Kelly Hello there! I’m Kelly and I’m the blogger behind all the goes on here at Mostly Homemade Mom. I’m so glad you’re here! I was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, around lots of noise, busyness, and amazing food! I now live with my husband and three boys in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, surrounded by Amish farmland and lots of fresh air. I remember as a little girl, taking out cookbooks from our little neighborhood school’s library. I know, it’s weird for a kid to take out cookbooks! I just loved imagining some yummy food and drinks I could try and create in the kitchen! You would probably guess that the Easy-Bake Oven was one of my favorite toys growing up as well. When I was first married, I really was in a rut with trying to cook dinner for us while we both worked full time. I lovingly (or NOT so lovingly) refer to those days as our “Hamburger Helper days” – mainly because it seemed that was all we ate most weeks! I decided to start experimenting with new dinners, using my favorite grocery store shortcuts to save time in the kitchen. I’m inspired by store-bought pie crusts, refrigerated biscuits, canned veggies, and fruits – I like to work smarter, not harder in the kitchen and I just love using these modern conveniences to create new and interesting recipes to share with you here on Mostly Homemade Mom. What you’ll find here on Mostly Homemade Mom I love sharing tasty recipes that get you in and out of the kitchen in no time – twice the flavor in half the time is my motto! Easy, home-cooked recipes that are perfect for beginner cooks and anyone who is short on time. You’ll find step by step photos, pro tips, and my personal recipe notes to help you create each recipe to perfection! Many recipes also feature a tutorial video so you can watch me make the recipe as well. Fun facts about Kelly I started Mostly Homemade Mom way back in 2010, mainly as a way to share favorite recipes with friends and family. The rest of the internet seemed to love the recipes, too! Sometime in 2011, a fellow blogging friend clued me in that one of my recipes was going viral on Pinterest. I had no idea what Pinterest was at the time! She sent me a invite and that’s when I really started to up my blogging game. While I’m not a trained chef, I do have a teaching degree in Elementary Education. I spent 6 years teaching 2nd grade in Philadelphia, Reading, and Harrisburg, PA. I’m an avid home gardener! You’ll likely find me tending my veggies between the months of April and November ever year. It’s my happy place and where I source a lot of fresh produce to feature in recipes. Working Together If you’re interested in having me write a recipe featuring your product, or another form of foodie collaboration, contact me to discuss your idea!
