I threw this together and turned on the crockpot one Sunday before church. We came home to a delicious smelling house and decided to dig right in. These sandwiches were awesome! So glad I bookmarked this one to try, this recipe is extremely simple and lasted us a few days with leftovers that we were more than willing to eat.
Crockpot Shredded Chicken Sandwiches
3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 packet onion soup mix (like Lipton)
1/4 cup zesty italian salad dressing
1/4 cup water
garlic salt to taste
hamburger rolls
swiss cheese (optional, but totally tasty)
Place chicken in bottom of a crock pot. Sprinkle onion soup mix and garlic salt over chicken. Pour salad dressing and water over chicken, turning to coat. Cook chicken on high 4 hours or low 8 hours. Open hamburger buns and top bottom bun with a slice of swiss cheese. Microwave buns for approximately 45 seconds or until buns are warmed and cheese is melted. Shred chicken in crock pot with fork and serve on warmed buns. Yum!

ReplyDeleteThis sounds really delicious Kelly! I am going to try this one! I love a good Crock Pot recipe!
ReplyDeleteAwwww....I'm so glad you liked it! You can even improvise it a little - one day I was out of dry onion soup mix so I used a dip mix from Tastefully Simple that had been sitting in my pantry for ages - it was awesome, too! :)

Looks good! About how many sandwiches does this make?
ReplyDeleteCan you double or triple this recipe? I don't use my crock pot that often, but was looking at making this for a party. Thoughts? Any help greatly appreciated :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would think you could definitely double the recipe, though I'm not sure there would be enough room in the crock for tripling. That's a great idea to make this for a party, I'm going to keep that in mind!
ReplyDeleteIts in my slow cooker as we speak! Can not wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteDelicious. I'm making it for the second time as I type this.
ReplyDeleteCan you use frozen chicken breast for this?
ReplyDeletei have. I leave it it a little longer when i do frozen though.
DeleteI've done it with frozen chicken breasts, but when I do, I typically leave it in on high a little longer.
ReplyDeletemaking this tomorrow--can't wait to try it!
