Pasta night in the Miller household is something we ALL look forward to. Between myself, my husband, and our three growing boys, pasta dinners have become a mainstay in our menu planning rotation. I love how getting the boys to try new flavors and ingredients is easy, as long as I serve it on top of some high-quality pasta – like our favorite Garofalo® Pasta from Weis! Garofalo is one of the few Italian import pastas that is Non-GMO; not a claim many Italian pastas can make! Now until 8/31/19 you can save $1.00 on any Garofalo Pasta at Weis! Click here for a Weis store locator Obviously I’m the one that takes on planning our weekly dinners and I have to admit – sometimes I get stuck in a rut with pasta meals! I tend to make the same things over and over again. It’s so nice to add this rustic Slow Cooker Braised Beef to our recipe repertoire! I can imagine how absolutely wonderful this dinner will be on chilly fall and winter nights. I can’t wait! Can crushed tomatoes be used instead of whole tomatoes? Yes! Substitute for the same amount of crushed tomatoes for a slightly thicker tomato sauce base for the pasta. What brand of pasta is recommended for braised beef? You need a high-quality pasta for this dish – Garofalo Bucatini is absolutely perfect for a broth-based sauce like this recipe makes. Garofalo is the oldest pasta-making company in Gragnano, Italy – also known as the birthplace of pasta! Garofalo Pasta is IGP certified, meeting strict requirements preserving the identity of this region’s pasta production. Stupefacente (amazing)! How to make Slow Cooker Braised Beef: Add roast, canned whole tomatoes, tomato paste, and water to a large slow cooker. Add basil, Italian seasoning, and bay leaves on top. Cover and cook. Cook Garofalo Bucatini pasta over a rolling boil until al dente. Serve shredded beef and sauce over plates of pasta. Enjoy! Can spaghetti be used instead of bucatini pasta? Absolutely! This braised beef is great on most varieties of pasta. Bucatini, spaghetti, linguine, or even capellini would all work well with this dish.
