A set it and forget it Crockpot recipe! This Root Beer Pulled Pork recipe is one of my family’s all time favorite dinners! It’s so simple, too. Just a boneless pork roast, root beer, and seasonings. Slow cook it for a few hours, shred, and mix in BBQ sauce. Absolutely delicious! This is one of those no-brainer recipes that veterans and beginners alike can make and it will taste like you have it all together – ha! Definitely serve these with some cold glasses of icy root beer. Yum! What’s in this recipe? What kind of pork do I need for this recipe? You’ll need a boneless pork shoulder roast, sometimes it’s labeled as “picnic roast.” Boneless is key, and NOT a pork tenderloin. You need the fat in a regular pork roast to render as it cooks and give it that ability to shred well. How to make this recipe: Place pork roast in the bottom of a slow cooker and pour root beer over the roast. Sprinkle in minced onion and garlic powder. Cook on low. 2. When the pork is done, remove the roast and drain the liquid from the bottom of the Crockpot. Return the roast to the slow cooker and shred it well using a pair of tongs, two forks, knives, whatever works! 3. Mix in bbq sauce. Turn Crockpot to “keep warm” setting. Serve on rolls! Can this recipe be frozen? Leftovers freeze wonderfully! Place leftover pulled pork in a tight lidded container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and warm it up in a pan on the stove until hot. Recipe pro tips: Find as large a roast as you can fit in your slow cooker and just grab an extra bottle of sauce to make this up for a party! Serve pulled pork over baked potatoes, french fries, or even in wraps for a fun twist Shred the pulled pork with a stand mixer to make perfect shreds every time!
