Perfect French Bread Pizza By Kelly Miller • July27,2020 • 17 Comments 1.2K Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Perfect French Bread Pizza, made at home, is easy and fast! Top a loaf of french bread with pizza sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, pepperoni, and spices. Delicious and simple for a weeknight dinner! You won’t find an easier dinner than french bread pizza, that’s for sure! Instead of using traditional pizza crust, that can be difficult to make and even more difficult to handle, a split loaf of French bread or Italian bread makes the perfect crust for pizza. I’m sharing our favorite version – with two different types of cheeses and pepperoni slices – but you could of course add whatever your family’s favorite pizza toppings are. This is a great recipe that doubles easily if you have a larger family or for guests. A foolproof dinner! What’s in this recipe? How to make this recipe: Using a bread knife, or other large serrated knife, split the French bread in half length-wise. Top halves with pizza sauce and pepperoni. Top with mozzarella, Parmesan, and spices. Bake in a preheated oven. Cool slightly before slicing and serving! Can a baguette be used? It would work, but it’s not ideal for pizza. You’ll want to choose a wide loaf of bakery French bread or Italian bread. We don’t like pepperoni, what else can we use? Any pizza toppings you normally like! Just put them on top of the sauce and layer the cheeses on the very top. Pro tips: Use homemade pizza sauce if you have some on hand! A half sheet pan works best to hold the large loaf of bread Serve with a salad topped with vinaigrette More recipes you’ll love: Crockpot Pizza Burgers Homemade Garlic Bread Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets If you liked this recipe, leave a rating and a comment below this post! momphotographer says September 30, 2012 at 4:48 pm that looks really great. When I was young(er) I use make those "pizzas" with my siblings, as a quick fix when I we got hungry at night! Sometimes we would use only butter and cheese and it super delicious! Reply

Michelle@ Learning to Be a Mom says October 1, 2012 at 6:43 pm I have never actually made french bread pizza, but it always looks good, and I love pizza. I really want to try this because I have a bunch of peppers that I'm not sure what to do with. Thanks for the idea! I'm pinning it. Reply
Lydia says October 2, 2012 at 2:53 pm As silly as it sounds, I never thought of making my own French Bread pizza but I love the idea! I often make french bread and my recipe makes 2 loaves and I'm not always sure what to do with the second loaf. Going to try this! Reply

Frances Wellinger says July 24, 2022 at 6:55 pm I’ve made these may times, Italian bread, French bread, English muffins. So easy and yummy. I alway toast my breads first for a few minutes, to get a firmer crust on them. I always use tomato paste instead of spaghetti sauce. This gives it a more robust and hardy base to start with Reply
