Best Crockpot Chili (VIDEO) By Kelly Miller • August22,2019 • 3 Comments 421 Jump to Recipe Jump to VideoThis is absolutely the BEST Crockpot Chili Recipe ever! Ground beef, kidney beans, corn, salsa, and seasoning are all you need for a batch of the most delicious chili around! If you are looking for the BEST Crockpot Chili recipe, then you’ve come to the right place! This version makes a large batch, perfect for serving at a party or freezing for leftovers. So, what makes this crockpot chili so special? Our secret ingredient: chunky salsa! Most chili recipes call for diced tomatoes, canned tomato sauce, or a combination of both. These are great tomato products, but severely lacking in flavor. Using jarred salsa instead makes the flavor of this chili SO much better – I promise you’ll think the same after you’ve made it! Can you put raw ground beef in a slow cooker? No. The vast majority of recipes that use ground beef in a slow cooker require cooking the meat ahead of time, and this recipe is the same. How long should you cook chili? 6 hours on low setting on a Crockpot is the best time for chili to combine flavors. If you’re short on time, you can try 3-4 hours on high. How to make the best Crockpot chili: Brown ground beef in a large skillet and drain well. Transfer ground beef to a Crockpot. Add in kidney beans, salsa, corn and seasoning. Stir, cover and cook. Remove lid and stir well before serving. What kind of salsa is used in this recipe? I like to use Walmart’s store brand chunky salsa, but you can certainly use whatever brand your family prefers. I use mild, but you could also use hot and spicy salsa instead. Can canned corn be used instead of frozen? Yes! One drained can of corn can be used as a substitute for the frozen corn in this recipe. Kelly Miller says August 23, 2019 at 3:10 pm I would make it with just one packet of seasoning if you choose to omit the meat. Reply
Sasha says November 30, 2021 at 5:53 pm Hi Kelly, Thank you very much for the recipe! Although I wasn’t able to follow it exactly, your guidelines regarding the ingredients (especially, salsa!), proportions, and timing, were excellent. I had to improvise a bit, depending on what I had in the pantry: used black beans, canned corn, medium salsa (not chunky) plus a can of diced tomatoes to get to the required 48 oz and to compensate for the chunks missing from salsa; and I had to put together my own 5-spices chili mix. The chili dinner last night was a huge hit. Doing leftovers for lunch today 🙂 Reply
