Serve with sliced strawberries, apples, or graham crackers! There is honestly nothing more simple than a great fruit dip recipe! Whether you’re new to cooking, or a seasoned chef, having a solid cream cheese fruit dip in your back pocket is the way to go. You’ll always have this one to make up if you’re asking to bring something to a party or gathering – and I can guarantee no one will complain one bit! This particular recipe incorporates some spices (you already have them in your pantry) to elevate the flavor and compliment the fruit dippers perfectly. It’s a flavor that only gets better the more you leave it chill in the fridge! What’s in this recipe? You’ll need cream cheese, Cool Whip, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Be sure to transfer the Cool Whip from the freezer to the refrigerator the night before you want to make this dip, so that it thaws completely. There are instructions online how to thaw Cool Whip in the microwave if you forget to do this, but I honestly don’t recommend it. The Cool Whip becomes really watery that way and not ideal for a dip like this! Also, make sure to leave the cream cheese out on the counter to come to room temperature – this will help mix the dip well. How long does fruit dip last in the fridge? This will keep for up to 7 days (one full week) in the refrigerator. If you leave it out for a long period of time at a party and it comes to room temperature, you should throw it out at that point. A great idea for a party is to have a separate bowl on the platter that you will refill with the refrigerated dip as needed. Why is my cream cheese dip lumpy? That’s because it’s not fully softened and come to room temperature. This takes a good few hours on the counter, depending on how cold your refrigerator keeps a temperature. How to make this recipe: Find a large mixing bowl and put the softened cream cheese and thawed Cool Whip into the bowl. 2. Add in the packed brown sugar. Using a hand mixer, blend these ingredients well on low speed for a few minutes until smooth. If it’s still a bit lumpy, increase the speed to medium if needed for a short time. *Note: the longer you beat the mixture with the hand mixer, the more the Cool Whip will deflate so try to do this quickly. 3. Add in the vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Use a large spatula to gently fold in these ingredients, being sure to scrape the sides of the bowl as needed. 4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Honestly, overnight in the fridge is better because it allows all these wonderful flavors to incorporate well together! *Recipe pro tip: The finished dip fits perfectly right back into the Cool Whip container! 5. When you’re ready to serve, set the bowl out with the various dippers you have prepared. Dipper ideas for this fruit dip: whole strawberries apple slices grapes with toothpicks graham crackers vanilla wafers Can you freeze cream cheese fruit dip? No, the texture after thawing this dip would be watery and lumpy so it’s not recommended to freeze this one. Any recipe containing cream cheese is not a great candidate for freezing, for exactly this reason. It’s a good thing it keeps for a whole week in the refrigerator though, so you can make this up well ahead of time as needed!
