Perfect French Bread Pizza

It's amazing to me how simple it is to make french bread pizza and that I had never made it before! It was always in the back of my mind as a quick dinner and i finally got around to trying (the non-frozen version) at home. Fantastic! This is a PERFECT dinner for a busy weeknight and a great way to use up extra veggies and meats for customizable toppings. I kept mine pretty generic, while Paul decided to get a bit creative with his. The key to this recipe is the baking temperature and time. It kept the inside of the bread soft, but the edges crispy and the cheese perfectly melted.

inspired by What's Cooking with Ruthie

1 loaf french bread
14oz jar pizza sauce (highly recommend Prego brand)
3 cups shredded mozzarella
1 serrano pepper, seeded & diced
20 pepperoni slices
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon oregano
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder

Cut french bread in half length wise and lay cut side up on a cookie sheet. Spread pizza sauce on each half. Place desired toppings on each half, we had one with just pepperoni and one with both serrano peppers and pepperoni.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over toppings and then parmesan cheese (Paul added a little colby jack cheese to the top of his as well).

Finally, sprinkle oregano and garlic powder over each pizza. Bake at 500 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Slice and serve!
