Don’t forget the vanilla ice cream on top, yum! Friends, it has been a looooooong year for all of us! Our kids were home learning with our district’s virtual academy all of last year, so this back to school season is extra special and exciting as they go back to in-person learning. They are SO excited, but also have a bit of the nervous jitters, too. If I’m being completely honest with you, so do I! 😅 During our extended time at home, my 10 year old, Wesley, has become so much more interested in cooking and trying new foods. I recently discovered AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate In the Kitchen with Mars Wrigley back to school Recipe Guide has some great recipes that incorporate some of our favorite candy brands with fun chocolate facts to learn as you’re baking. Be sure to download your copy here! So of course, me and my Wesley had to make a fun baking afternoon of it! Back to school has never been so sweet! What’s in this recipe? 3 MUSKEETERS bars – chopped small to mix into the batter and top the brownies AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate Finely Grated Baking Chocolate – this melted beautifully and easily for us! The flavor notes of 8 spices including vanilla, orange peel, and cinnamon add such a depth to this chocolate! Pantry staple baking ingredients How to make this recipe: Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set the bowl aside. Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave according to the package directions (this was SUPER easy with this chocolate!). Transfer into a large mixing bowl and whisk in eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Then gradually whisk in the flour mixture. Stir in half of the chopped 3 MUSKETEERS bars into the brownie batter. Spread into a cast iron skillet and top with remaining chopped candy. Didn’t he do a great job?! Bake, cool slightly, and top with a simple ganache. We topped slices with vanilla ice cream, yum! This was such a fun way to get involved with my foodie-loving kiddo and read about the history of one of our favorite foods – chocolate! If you’re looking for a way to connect with your child, use the recipe guide for a fun afternoon activity and learn some chocolate facts along the way. It’s a great way to get into a back to school rhythm. Fun fact: According to Mars Wrigley Chocolate Historian David Borghesani, chocolate was originally flavored with spices -think chili pepper, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peel! Now that sounds absolutely delicious to me! AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate is pleased to offer an amazing giveaway!
