We just celebrate our oldest’s 7th birthday. Of course, Silas’ actual birthday was smack dab in the middle of the week, so it honestly felt like a week long celebration! We took him to a game store and to his favorite fast food restaurant on his birthday, and then that weekend the whole family joined us at a local fun-zone. They played for a while in their indoor ball pit, enjoyed some arcade games, grabbed pizza, and then went back to my parent’s house for cake. He had a great time! Basically, my life is busy and I’mĀ exhaustedĀ all the time. How about you?? I’m so thankful that I’m currently able to stay home and financially contribute to our family at the same time. You work-outside-the-home moms have a special place in my heart. I used to be one, my sister is one currently, and I remember those days. I would say the positives to working outside the home were that I was able to do something that I loved doing (teaching) and that I had a bit more free-time without the family to get things done, like stopping at the grocery store on my way home from work, for example. But seriously, HARD doesn’t even begin to describe the experience. Constantly trading off whether it’s more important to provide a more stable financial home, or to sacrifice things to be more present with your family. Oh man, the emotions. Plus, just keeping up with dinner and laundry… I honestly felt like super-mom those weeks that we were fed from our own kitchen and we actually were reaching into drawers, not laundry baskets, for clean clothes. I honestly LIVED for dinner recipes like this one. Zero pre-preparation (besides slicing the kielbasa). Just layer the ingredients on top of one another, set it, and it’s ready to go at dinner time! First potatoes, kielbasa, and green beans… Then onions, garlic, cream soups, water, and cheese… and dinner is served! If you’re looking for a meal that the entire family will love, you can stop searching! Don’t worry about picky eaters either, feel free to substitute your family’s favorite canned or frozen veggie for the green beans – oddly enough most of us love green beans.
