19Aug2016 M&M Marshmallow Popcorn Cake This M&M Marshmallow Popcorn Cake is the perfect way to enjoy gooey sweet popcorn balls in a fun whole cake! This is the perfect birthday cake, too! My boys have recently become addicted to having movie theater (pronounced “fee-a-ter”) nights at home. We went with my sister and nephew to see Secret Life of Pets a few weeks ago, and they’ve been wanting to recreate that experience here at home. I have to admit, it’s pretty darn adorable! Must haves for movie theater nights here: Pajamas bowls of extra butter popcorn the room as dark as it can get Needless to say when they want to play this during the day, Wesley gets super frustrated that our living room, with it’s many windows, will not get very dark and movie-theater-like! I think you can imagine how well explaining that to a 5 year old who has his mind set. I wonder where he gets his stubbornness from… 🙂 First of all, I’m very happy that they’re willing to recreate the movies here, because goodness knows we can’t afford to take them to the real movies very often. And second of all, I have to admit, it is pretty fun at night to settle down to a movie together. Getting them to pick a movie that’s not Pokemon-related though… well, that’s another discussion for another post, I think! They’re obsession lately with popcorn sparked an idea I had for a gooey M&M Marshmallow Popcorn Cake – kind of like the popcorn balls you see at Christmas time, only in cake form. This turned out WAY better than I even thought! We kept this cake wrapped in plastic wrap on my cake plate all week and we had a great dessert to snack on at night. This would be SO fun for birthday parties, too!
