I used to LOVE Valentine’s Day when I was a kiddo in school. I remember making construction paper card holders and hanging them on the fronts of our desks with masking tape. Just simple two layered hearts that we stapled at the edges and decorated with our favorite doodles, and our name of course. We were all so excited for lunch and recess to be over because in the afternoon we were able to deliver our cards and treats to our teacher and classmates. By the time we were done filling those card holders they were usually falling off and busting at the seams! It was just so exciting to see what cards everyone gave each year. And they were OUR Valentine’s. Sure, mom bought them in a box at the store. But we all sat at the kitchen table the night before and painstakingly wrote out all of our friends names, double checking the list to make sure we didn’t forget anyone. That was back when everyone just gave little cards, maybe with their favorite cartoon characters, an an occasional chocolate or lollipop thrown in. That was ALSO before the days of Pinterest! Just a simple search right now and you have thousands of ideas of homemade Valentines to prepare for your kids to give their classmates. I feel like I’m a pretty creative person, but I’m the parent that lets their kids pick out their favorite Valentine’s in the box at Walmart. Just like my mom did. In all honesty, it’s supposed to be something that THEY give their friends so until they are old enough to make them themselves, Silas and Wesley will be sitting at the kitchen table writing out his friends’ names on store bought Valentine’s! Who’s with me?! I know most schools, including ours, do not want edible treats in the classroom. So why not whip up a batch of these super simple Red Velvet Pudding Cups for when they come home from school? My kids LOVE Snack Pack pudding cups and this just takes them to the next level!!    I have to admit, I enjoyed one of these pudding cups along with my kids! I love that they now have Easy Open lids and that one Snack Pack contains the same calcium as an 8 oz glass of milk. Be sure to look in the baking aisle of your Walmart for them the next time you’re shopping.
