Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 thin slices cheddar cheese or about 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 8 slices whole wheat bread
  • softened butter

Instructions

  • Brown and drain ground beef.
  • Place cooked beef back into skillet and add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and garlic powder.
  • Cook until heated through, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Spray a griddle with non stick spray and heat on medium heat.
  • Assemble sandwiches with one slice of cheese, 1/3 cup beef filling, and another slice of cheese.
  • Butter the outside of sandwiches and place on griddle.
  • Flip when cheese starts to melt and bread is browned.
  • Cook an additional few minutes or until other slice is browned. Serve warm.
