- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 8 thin slices cheddar cheese or about 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 8 slices whole wheat bread
- softened butter
Brown and drain ground beef.
Place cooked beef back into skillet and add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and garlic powder.
Cook until heated through, about 10 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Spray a griddle with non stick spray and heat on medium heat.
Assemble sandwiches with one slice of cheese, 1/3 cup beef filling, and another slice of cheese.
Butter the outside of sandwiches and place on griddle.
Flip when cheese starts to melt and bread is browned.
Cook an additional few minutes or until other slice is browned. Serve warm.
