Sausage stuffed mushrooms recipe with whole mushrooms, pork sausage, Panko bread crumbs, ketchup, and basil.
Wash and dry mushrooms well.
Remove stems from mushrooms and chop stems enough to fill 1/2 cup; discard remaining stems.
Place mushroom caps on an ungreased cookie sheet and set aside.
In a skillet, saute sausage, chopped onion, and chopped mushroom stems until sausage is brown.
Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl.
Stir in ketchup, bread crumbs, and basil.
Evenly stuff mushroom caps with sausage mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
Cool slightly before serving.
