  • 8 oz macaroni noodles
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 2 cups cooked chicken diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper


  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.

  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.

  3. Whisk in flour until smooth.

  4. Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth.

  5. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, and continue cooking until thickened.

  6. Stir in 1 cup cheese and whisk until melted.

  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Stir in peas, chicken, and drained macaroni noodles.

  9. Transfer to a 2 quart baking dish.

  10. Top with remaining shredded cheese and bread crumbs.

  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until heated through and topping is golden brown.
