- 3/4 cup butter softened to room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup sanding sugar
In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the egg, water, and molasses and mix.
Add in the spices and salt.
Gradually add the flour while mixing on low speed.
Add in baking soda and keep mixing until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into sanding sugar, and then place onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 7 to 9 minutes, cookies should still be soft. Transfer to a cooling rack.
