  • 1 lb whole mushrooms
  • 1/2 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp dried basil


  • Wash and dry mushrooms well.
  • Remove stems from mushrooms and chop stems enough to fill 1/2 cup; discard remaining stems.
  • Place mushroom caps on an ungreased cookie sheet and set aside.
  • In a skillet, saute sausage, chopped onion, and chopped mushroom stems until sausage is brown.
  • Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl.
  • Stir in ketchup, bread crumbs, and basil.
  • Evenly stuff mushroom caps with sausage mixture.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
  • Cool slightly before serving.
