Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sanding sugar

Instructions

  • In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
  • Add the egg, water, and molasses and mix.
  • Add in the spices and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour while mixing on low speed.
  • Add in baking soda and keep mixing until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Roll tablespoonfuls of dough into sanding sugar, and then place onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350 for 7 to 9 minutes, cookies should still be soft. Transfer to a cooling rack.
