This fun twist on a coffee cake uses cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves just like a hot cup of chai tea! Top this amazing cake with a cinnamon buttercream frosting, and you have a perfect dessert recipe for brunch, too!
In a medium bowl, stir together spices, salt, baking powder, and flour.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until fluffy. While mixer is on low, alternate adding in flour mixture and milk until all ingredients are blended well.
Spread batter into a greased square baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 – 35 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool completely.
For frosting, beat together ingredients adding only 3 tablespoons of milk and adding an additional tablespoon of milk as needed. Spread frosting onto cooled cake. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
