Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 onion diced
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 4 cups cooked ham diced
  • 1 cup instant mashed potato flakes
  • 64 oz navy beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • dried parsley

Instructions

  • Melt butter over medium heat in a large stockpot.
  • Saute onion in butter until beginning to brown on the edges.
  • Add in water, chicken bouillon, and ham.
  • Stir and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
  • Stir in instant mashed potato flakes, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  • Stir in navy beans.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes.
  • Serve hot with optional dried parsley sprinkled on top, if desired.
