Pecan Pie Cupcakes

15 oz box yellow cake mix 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup applesauce 1/2 cup apple juice 1/2 cup water 3 eggs 1 cup pecan chips 9 oz M&Ms pecan pie flavor 1 cup butter 4 cups powdered sugar 3 tbsp milk 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp maple extract
In a large bowl, stir together cake mix and cinnamon. Add applesauce, apple juice, water, and eggs and beat until well combined. Stir in pecan chips.
Divide batter among 24 muffin cups lined with paper liners, about 3 tablespoons of batter each.
Drop 3 M&M's® on the top of each cupcake. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Cool completely.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat butter until fluffy. Add 2 cups powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons milk, beat well.
Add remaining 2 cups powdered sugar, cinnamon, and maple extract. Beat until well mixed, scraping down sides as needed.
Pipe or spread onto tops of cooled cupcakes. Garnish with a sprinkle of pecan chips and some M&M's®.
