10Sep2012Menu Plan Monday – 9/10 Breaking Out the Crock Pot! We had such a fun Saturday. There’s nothing like taking the kids apple picking to forget about the stresses of every day life! Our local orchard was having a special Johnny Appleseed day. We took a hayride out to the orchard (from the farm market) where “Johnny Appleseed” told us some fun facts about apples and apple trees. Then we were free to go picking! It’s such a great learning experience for kids – Silas has been talking about where apples come from since! I’m definitely breaking out the Crock Pot this week to try some new recipes, and an old favorite as well. I have some leftover shrimp and breaded flounder in the freezer to use up. Whole roaster chickens and bone-in chicken thighs are on sale for $.99/lb. I can also score some of those new Progresso Recipe Starters for free after coupons at my local grocery store – sweet!
