I think it's obvious I had a major sweet tooth this year! And apparently so did you, my dessert posts for the first time ever were just as popular as my Crockpot posts - you can count on seeing more of both in the coming year. I firmly believe desserts should be easy to pull together and of course taste amazing, which is why I use a variety of shortcuts - cake mixes, canned pie filling, instant pudding, etc. Here are the top ten dessert posts of 2013:
I say it every year, but it's hard to believe this year is coming to a close! This past year has been a record-breaking one here on Mostly Homemade Mom and I want to personally thank each one of you that comes looking for more yummy recipes and menu plan ideas. I truly, truly love what I do here on the blog and I'm still a bit shocked that so many of you come back here to visit each day! My year has been blessed because of you. Thank you!
What a whirlwind of a week Christmas was! I have to say though, this was the first year Silas was REALLY into Christmas and completely understood what Christmas morning meant. It's so much more fun to be a parent on Christmas! Wesley was really hilarious. I kept trying to get him to open some more presents, and he kept saying, "Um. No thank you." I totally wasted a few hours wrapping his presents, he would have been much happier to actually see the gifts under the tree!
This week Paul is working New Year's Eve, so most likely I'll be sleeping when the ball drops (ha)! New Year's Day we're visiting my grandparents and celebrating Christmas with them. The boys are really excited! Here's my menu plan for the week:
While we LOVE throwing parties in this family, there is definitely no need for a huge get together to enjoy these yummy appetizers & snacks with your loved ones! I feel like every time we have a semi-special occasion at my Mom's house - we break out the dips and the munchies. You really can't go wrong with any of these recipes, and talk about easy! Your family (and your guests) will have no idea how little time you spent making these delicious appetizers!
I hope you have a favorite casserole dish because after this post, it's going to get a workout! If I could sum up the most popular main dish recipes here on Mostly Homemade Mom this year, it would be "comfort food." I'm happy to say too, that even though most of these fall into that category, when you prepare things at home YOU control the ingredients. Experiment. Try new dinners based on these recipe winners with your family's likes, dislikes, and dietary restrictions in mind. Most of all, have fun!
