Pizza fries. It's "our" food. Just one taste of Dough Boys pizza fries back home brings us back to our 19 year old selves holding hands across the table. How were we able to eat them pretty much every weekend and never gain a pound?
Well we tried, we really tried. The pizza places out here in Amish country just simply don't compare. One place charged us over $6 for a handful of overcooked fries on a PLATE, maybe 2 tablespoons pizza sauce, and even less cheese on the top. We looked at each other. This can't be so hard! Here was our first attempt, and it came out really tasty.
Ingredients:
Bag of frozen straight cut fries (I used store brand)
15 oz jar pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Bake 1/2 package of frozen fries according to directions on bag. You can deep fry if you want, but I hate doing that inside the house. The baked fries turned out just as tasty anyway.
Place cooked fries in the bottom of a round foil take away container. I found mine at Dollar Tree (3 in the pack) but you can certainly use an 8x8 square baking pan. Heat pizza sauce in a small saucepan on stove over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Pour pizza sauce on top of fries in pan.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over top of the pizza sauce. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes or until cheese is completely melted. Let fries cool at least 10 minutes before digging in. YUM! :)
